Michael Nieves

Michael Nieves is an Accenture executive with considerable experience in the development and management of world-class IT operations and organizational capabilities. Michael is both a practitioner and practice leader within Accenture, guiding the adoption and implementation of IT-based strategies and best practices for clients across multiple industries including: financial services, manufacturing, media and entertainment, communications and high-tech, legal, military and government.

Michael’s prominent history of accomplishments includes key leadership roles for two of the largest SAP global implementations and the largest outsourced environment in the world. He recently crafted an innovative approach, based on BSM and System Dynamics, for managing and monitoring a Fortune 5 enterprise spanning 20+ data centers over 5 continents. The design has emerged as a best practice in service management operations.

Michael was among the early pioneers to apply the following innovative techniques in improving IT organizations:

  • The use of experiential "Management Flight Simulators" based on the ITIL framework
  • The application of M.I.T.’s System Dynamics in the diagnosis of client service management strategies and organizational structures

Michael has completed advanced programs at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and is also engaged in scholarly work at Harvard University in the area of Information Technology. His thesis topic is tentatively entitled The Dynamics of Business Service Management. It presents a simulation modeling capability based on the convergence of service management and business process flow. This capability allows CIOs to examine the impact of senior management decisions on IT organizational processes, information flow and decision making policies and their long-term effects on business performance.
